Throughout the past decade, the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences has been committed to creating a large forum for voiceover professionals and novices to meet and learn from top voiceover pros, TV producers, talent agents and casting directors, through the past few years, its co-founder Rudy Gaskins and Joan Baker have made wide-ranging strategic moves towards turning SOVAS into a global community that reflects a comprehensive range of diversity through world cultures and languages, which materialized in adding new Japanese, Arabic, Portuguese and African English categories to the Voice Arts Awards contest, while expanding the jury pool to include native top notch voice over performers, directors and producers from around the world to turn the Voice Arts Awards into a global competition or, as we may call in the near future, the world tournament of voiceover professionals.
This year, another pivotal step is taking place, with a new panel that will introduce a small commonwealth of world voices and producers meeting together on the stage to discuss and reveal cultural aspects, challenges and career opportunities at the global level of voiceover industry. The panel will be hosted by the Nigerian SOVAS International Ambassador Seun Shobo, who will interview the Japanese Yukiko Fujimura from the far east, the iconic Arabic promo voice Wael Habbal from United Arab Emirates, the Portuguese voice Susie Valerio, the Dominican Spanish voice and presenter Angely Baez, and Ahmed AlQotb of THE ARABIC VOICE™.
A panel that SOVAS introduced on social media platforms with these words:
“This is a first! Voiceover influencers from around the world open our eyes to the tapestry of our art, and the business of making a living in the global voiceover marketplace. These type-A personalities will put it all on the table and open the door to a new conversation about the pursuit of opportunities around the world. If you think your VO Career is destined to be a one-nation-pony, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. Join us for the first-ever, Voiceover Summit Of Nations. Just one of the many life-changing seminars and presentations at That’s Voiceover Career Expo“
